Q: Tell us a bit about yourself - Where are you from?

"KIA ORA!!! Well, my parents are from Sri Lanka however I was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. So I’m Kiwi- Sri Lankan."

Q: How did you initially get into art?

With art, I think it started with my first gallery visit. I was 14 and I can remember feeling so overwhelmed by the whole experience, I felt a strong spark inside that soon grew into a chase for wanting to do it. I guess I’ve always been attracted to visual things. I remember initially getting into drawing my own sketches during school. Studying for math’s tests was never a priority so I would always procrastinate and scribble on the backs of books.  Thank God for procrastination. "

Q: What is it that you love about being creative?

"I love how it essentially mirrors who I am as a human. I’m so expressive with everything. Being creative is being loud the way you want to be – being creative is communicating in an extraordinary way."

Q: What inspires your work?

"Emotions. People. Forms. Space and time."

Q: What’s something about yourself that most people don’t know but that you wish they did?

"My name means surprise. If art ever fails, I will become a chef. "
